Without a cover on the box, you have to store them flat or risk them flying all over the place.
With one of those hard plastic box covers, this would have the perfect presentation for a gift.
Also, the amount in each jar is so tiny, this is strictly a sampler--not suitable for large projects.
But it is the lack of a box top is that really disappointed me.
I had to play around with these to figure out what effects were possible. I used to use Krylon's Make-It-Pearl on my garden sculptures, but they discontinued the product. I think it might still be on the market if it had a better name. When it was getting hard to find, I started calling around to stores. And whenever I asked for it, the person heard "naked pearl". It was a pain.
I was mainly interested in the pearl colours: Micropearl, Pearl White, and Macropearl. There are no instructions, so you just have to experiment. I found that Pearl White gave me the coverage most like the Krylon product. Micro and Macro separate out into a web, which worked out perfect for the bird sculptures. [See photos.]
I used macro on the grey heron (larger web) and I used Micro on the plover (smaller web). This effect was perfect for feathers. In the pictures the grey heron is the larger bird.
On the dragon and fairies, I used Pearl White.
Using a pearlizer blends the colours in a way that is ethereal beyond description. The closest way I can describe it is: it's like the way object change colour at different times of the day.
